The advisory page describes the services and the markets page the coverage. Clients are not named on this site; references are available on request.
It is the one operating business in the group with a trading history. It has been the founder’s business since 2012 and it funds the group’s work.
Background
Where the practice comes from
Before founding Alpha Inception in 2012, the founder originated and structured energy and environmental-commodity transactions at Macquarie Energy and Goldman Sachs, after earlier roles in renewable development and utility trading. The practice covers the markets that grew out of that work: renewable power purchase agreements, the California and Washington carbon markets, the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, low-carbon fuel standards, renewable energy certificates and renewable natural gas. Work is done under fixed-fee, retainer or hourly terms. The about page has the full history.
Role in the group
Shared services
Alpha Inception supplies the founder’s time, engineering and administration to the operating companies. This is being put under written shared-services agreements: each company pays for what it uses at cost plus a margin, is invoiced monthly, and owns the results of the work. The consulting practice stays separate from the product companies, and nothing built for a client is used in a product.
Alpha Inception acts as a consultant and does not transact on behalf of clients. Its regulatory position is stated in the footer of every page on this site.
Plan
The next eighteen months
- Sign the shared-services agreements with each operating company as it is formed.
- Keep the consulting practice and its records separate from the product companies.
- Register the Utah presence of the LLC alongside its existing Utah DBA.
